The is our second release of Aroha Mutunga Kore, our everlasting love design.
Created in collaboration with Hirini 'Heeds' Katene, of House of Natives, Aroha Mutunga Kore is based on an original kowhaiwhai design that speaks of the bond of love between parent and child.
In a vibrant pacific sea blue woven on an ecru warp, we have named this one Pukepoto. In reference to the historically revered and sought after blue mineral clay that was used to beautify the wearer and was celebrated for it’s rarity.
In a zig zag along the length is the manawa line, this is the heartbeat. From here come two mangopare. One is to represent strength and guidance from Mum and Dad. The other is made up of three puhoro to represent the bond between mother and child and their journey in life.
This wrap is made for all levels of wrapping experience, suited to carrying little ones at all stages. At approx 250gsm in loom state it is a thin to medium weight, densely woven in 100% fine cotton yarn, and rising to around 300gsm post wash and wear. Soft and blankety to touch, it has glide and mouldability yet also plenty of grip from the richly textured design.
Our Pukepoto Ring Slings have been converted locally by the babywearing community's beloved K.I.Designs. They come from half of a size 5 wrap and have black or silver Sling Ring rings, with your choice of a gathered or hybrid shoulder. Post wash, from the seam below the rings, they measure approx 1.8m to short taper, and 2.1m to long taper.
We hope you enjoy wrapping your babies in Aroha, made with love in New Zealand ❤
Due to our converter's insurance, we are only able to ship ring slings to New Zealand and Australia.
