Aroha Mutunga Kore 'Mamaku' - woven wrap
This is the VERY LAST full length wrap available from the first release of Aroha Mutunga Kore, the first release we ever did. We kept this one at HQ, for the nostalgia, but would love to see it join a whānau and snuggle a scrummy baby. It is woven with a deep warm black cotton weft across an ecru warp, and is named Mamaku after our beloved native fern.
Mamaku is made for all levels of experience. At approx 250gsm loomstate it is a thin to medium weight, densely woven in 100% fine cotton yarn. Soft and blankety to touch, it has glide and mouldability yet plenty of grip from the richly textured design.
More about the design:
A parent's love is immense. Endless. Infinite. Our little ones are always in our hearts and on our minds. They are the heartbeat of our universe. We have named our first wrap in tribute to this everlasting love.
Created in collaboration with Hirini 'Heeds' Katene of House of Natives, Aroha Mutunga Kore is based on an original kowhaiwhai design that speaks of the bond of love between parent and child.
In a zig zag along the length is the manawa line, this is the heartbeat. From here come two mangopare. One is to represent strength and guidance from Mum and Dad. The other is made up of three puhoro to represent the bond between mother and child and their journey in life.
Your wrap will arrive in loom state and requires washing before use to set the weave. We feel it's better to leave the choice of washing detergent up to you in case of any sensitivities.
We hope you enjoy wrapping your babies in Aroha, made with love in New Zealand ❤
